“The Complete Dr. Jim ! ”

We are delighted to announce that the Dr. James A. Mackay, author of the biggest selling and most popular publication of “The Complete Works of Robert Burns” will be assisting The World Burns Club in the presentation of a number of articles, and in an advisory capacity. Jim Mackay is undoubtedly the Worlds leading authority on Robert Burns and we are very proud to be associated with him.

Dr. Jim, was born in the Highlands of Scotland, but now lives on the outskirts of Glasgow. He is a history graduate of Glasgow University, worked for 10 years in the British Museum and was a columnist with the renowned Financial Times.  He is a prolific and highly accomplished writer who has completed over 200 books, many of which are recognised throughout the world as being the leading works in their field. Truly an exceptional and highly gifted gentleman, his studies and writings on Robert Burns is only one area of specialisation. In addition, he has published world-leading books on his other areas of expertise including The Arts, Philately (he is a consultant to the Stanley Gibbons company), Scottish Antiques, and Scottish History. He has written biographies on Robert Burns and Robert The Bruce. Perhaps most famously, he wrote “Braveheart” the biography of William Wallace.

Commenting on our objectives Jim said “ The World Burns Club is the most exciting new project on the life of Robert Burns. Creating an interactive Burns Club, which will provide such an extensive on-line resource of material, will be of significant benefit to those with an interest in the subject. I am particularly pleased that the site is aimed not only at the knowledgeable “Burnsian”, but also at those new to Burns. I believe that our friends in North America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and many other countries, will now be able to share the Burns phenomenon more readily and on a more accessible & user-friendly basis.”
